These reusable bags aren’t as sturdy as the canvas bags. They are great…..until they tear. 😦
So what are my options? Any ideas?

Humm…diapers that compost. Diapers that will disappear over a short period of time and leave nothing behind. Zero waste. I’ve found very few packages that make the claim their diapers are in fact, compostable. Most green-washed diapers claim “biodegradable and better for the environment.” How so?
Biodegradable does not mean compostable. Biodegradable means the plastic and diaper pieces break down into tiny bits of plastic and stay around forever. Hell, they probably end up in the plastic soup in the sea. Plastic soup you say? Google the Great Pacific Patch and see what you learn.
This is what I’ve discovered and learned in my short time as a mama (trying to tread environmentally lightly) while dealing with diapers. I’m sure I have much more to learn. This is also what the compostable diaper packages fail to stress…

Last year in the middle of the move, there was no garden. But the year before, we grew our own herbs! We’ll do it again, but I have so many dried herbs I still need to use.
It is just as easy as growing a tomato! YOU CAN DO IT! Even if you live in an apartment. All you need is a sunny window.

Before the pregnancy, I visited my father in south Georgia. We stopped to eat at a restaurant we frequented when I was a child.
Funny how you see things differently when you’re older.
Making your own would be the zero-waste way to drink wine. That’s high on my list but we gave this one a try until then…
We tried making our own citrus cleaner with grapefruits off the trees in the back yard while we residing in Georgia.
The Blue Goose Wine and Coffee Shoppe is an expensive, eco-friendly, quaint shoppe I found while we resided south with the snow birds. What a pleasant surprise to find how many environmentally friendly and creative, non-wasteful ways they came up with to serve and decorate.
I don’t usually write about the actual military. I try to focus more on one single family trying to fight against the waste that we’ve found within the confines of the U.S. military.
I did want to share with you what I found on some of the military bases in the south of the United States. Though they could/can be doing SO MUCH more. It’s a start:
I cheated and took a picture of this. Hope I haven’t shown it to you already. It was in our water bill last year and I found it so surprising! G.P.M. stands for gallons per minute. G.A.M. stands for gallons a month. I just like stats and thought you all might find it interesting.
Cheers!
