Amazing biodegradable products

End of summer picnics, holiday celebrations, birthday parties. This year, go a different route and try some of these biodegradable and reusable products for your outing rather than styrofoam or the dreaded plastic #6. Remember–regular polyethylene-based plastic can take over 100 years to degrade. Products I’ve used and those I plan to try…

From plates made of fallen leaves to compostable banana fiber bags, Eaternalplates expresses the kind of innovation that will turn our world around! Many of their products can be used as actual kitchen ware. I know what I want for my birthday! Just had to share! Take a look!

Green paper products offer 100% biodegradable, compostable trash bags and tableware for the best holiday festival yet. Meets ASTM D6400 or ASTM D6868 standards for compostability: http://greenpaperproducts.com/

BioBag…made from GMO Free starch, vegetable oil and the world’s first patented compostable polymer. Certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), no polyethylene used, and meets the requirements of California law regarding environmental claims of plastic bag manufacturers. They break down in the landfill and I’ve used these first hand. I like them, but they are extremely thin. I would use these in the bathroom for toilet paper or for a party of paper plates, but anything heavy will break right through. What an environmental statement these would make at the next office party clean-up!

No, not paid to advertise these. But I found them online and am always looking for a better alternative.

Do you have any fun, green alternative products to share?

  1. Those palm leaf plates are amazing! Not just India grow palms like weeds – all over the south Pacific they are a mainstay! I hope this idea is used by small island nations – if only for their local markets! I lived in Vanuatu, where trash is mainly burnt – batteries included. Palm plates would at least be less harmful than plastic being burnt

  2. I had never heard of these type of bags. I like the idea of green paper products and plates for backyard barbecues. It also sure beats lugging along dishes when you go for a picnic at the park or beach.

Tell me what you think. I don't get to answer comments like I did before baby but I read every single comment. And they really make my day!
