Last military move

As we transition into civilian life, there are things I’ll miss and things that I won’t.
But the moves…..those darn moves.

I’m up in the air about the moves. I’ll miss living in different places but I won’t miss those pain-in-the-hiney moves. And a pain-in-the-hiney they were.

Having to unpack....again.

Having to unpack….again.

Always trying to get rid of liquids because the movers won't move them. Since we've switched over to cleaning with white vinegar, the only times these cleaners are used is when we move out of one house or into another one and I actually remember to use them. We finished up 4 bottles this move. Yay.

Cleaning out the fridge. This was bbq chicken mixed with black eyed peas with some potato chips thrown on top. Yeah, nasty. Don't ever eat this.

I will miss looking at that house across the street hidden by the moss in the trees.

I'll miss the grapefruit and orange trees in the yard.

I will miss that back porch.

I will miss that back porch.

Besides the fact the taping scared the baby to the point we had to take her outside on pack out day, the little thing did really well.

Goodbye little house. Goodbye sweet Peggy and Rick and Anne from the market. Good riddance biting gnats and humidity. Hello good ol' mid-West. (Sigh.)

  1. Movers won’t move liquids? Wow! Can’t wait to see the new home

  2. Goodbyes can be hard, but the next place will be fresh for a new exciting chapter to be written. Bon voyage! And keep in touch.

  3. Love the porch in that place. Good luck! Hope your new place is what you desire.

  4. I’d miss that porch too – hopefully you get settled quickly.

  5. Good luck with your move. The worst is getting rid of food and all the other things they won’t take. They always seem to find every candle I own, then separate it with the can’t pack stuff. You almost need a whole box just for those things. Ha

  6. Congratulations- After 20 + yrs. I think the military would have moved us less than the civilian jobs did. I’ve heard you were going to WI, Is that so??? Remember I’m in MI if you want to take a long country drive–We’d love to see all of you. Will you do a civilian Blog?? Keep in touch with us.

  7. Good luck. I hope you’ll continue some type of blog. I always loved your suggestions.

  8. Good luck on the next leg!

  9. I always thought we would meet, since I live in Palm Coast,…the best is yet to be sweet mama. Silly me, you’re only a blog post away…

  10. @ Kerry—they won’t move the liquids because they might spill and make a mess. So, more crap to take in my car! Yay!

@ Shannon—After years of constant travel and moving, good-byes don’t bother me anymore. I even like them. How messed up is that?

@Bridget—thank you! On to colder weather! (which I really like!!)

@Heidi–hopefully as quickly as you did. You just settled right in. You always inspire me!

@Cindy—the candles and the batteries and the lightbulbs…..I hear ya! We ate almost all of our food, I gave some away and took the rest with me. It worked out this time!

@Jackie–I’ll be so much closer to you now! I’ve heard good things about Michigan. Maybe we’ll cross that lake this summer and make our way over there! Pres says I can’t swim it, it’s too far! ha!

@P.C. Zick–we’ll still be Reserves so I guess I’ll stick with the theme. WordPress won’t let me change the name anyway! I’ll keep it going. Thank you so much for sticking with me!!

@Little Sis—thanks for the encouragement! And all the inspiration I get from your blog!

@Claudia—You just made my day, woman. What I’d do to meet you!

Tell me what you think. I don't get to answer comments like I did before baby but I read every single comment. And they really make my day!
